Social Psychology

Social psychology subfiled consists of 2 associate professors and 4 research assistants. Master’s and doctoral program in social psychology is offered. Faculty members of social psychology subfield do their theoretical and applied studies on different areas.

 

Social psychology, in the broadest sense, is a discipline that examines social behavior.  Work of Social Psychology researchers in Ege University Psychology Department spread on a large area. These include subjects like personal and collective identity phenomena, intergroup relations, group dynamics, environmental psychology, human-environment interactions, place identity, urban memory, cognitive representations, political psychology, political attitudes and behavior, prejudice and discrimination, conservatism, multiple identities, cross-cultural psychology, individualism-collectivism, acculturation processes, migrations and values, evolutionary foundations of human relations, organizational behavior, organizational climate and culture, interpersonal perception and communication, social comparison processes, romantic relations and jealousy.

 

Faculty members of this subfield give lectures for both under-graduate and graduate programs such as social psychology, experimental social psychology, cross-cultural psychology, environmental psychology, forensic psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, evolutionary psychology, contemporary developments in social psychology, computer aided statistics, occupational ethics in psychology, and history of psychology.
