The Department of Psychology at Ege University was established in 1976 under the name Department of Behavioral Sciences within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The department graduated its first students in the 1981–1982 academic year. Today, the department offers undergraduate and graduate education, including master’s and doctoral programs, under the name Department of Psychology within the Faculty of Letters.
The duration of undergraduate education is four years, excluding the English preparatory year. Students with sufficient proficiency in English begin directly in the first year of their departmental studies. Over the four-year program, students complete 30% of their coursework in English.
